CHATTANOOGA AREA ROWING

On the water in the Scenic City

Chattanooga's first rowers organized access to the sport in the early 70's, formalizing as the Lookout Rowing Club (LRC). Interest from others grew and by the mid 80's UTC students were studying the craft and represented our university at regattas nationwide.
-
Chattanooga Rowing was formed to support the growing community outside the University. That group oversees the Rowing Center, home of Chattanooga Junior Rowing (CJR) and LRC which also hosted the US Women's National Team leading into the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
-
Since 2005 LRC has partnered with the Atlanta Rowing Club to host the Head of the Hooch regatta, one of the world's largest.
